Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers took place exactly a decade after the 1978 massacre. Myers was 31 during his quest to slay his niece, Jamie (Danielle Harris). Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers was both released and took place one year later.

In the 20th-anniversary sequel, which erased parts 4, 5, and 6.20th picked up 20 years after the original film. Therefore, Myers is 41 in Halloween: H20, the film that brought back Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode.

The next film, Halloween: Resurrection was released in 2002 and took place in two separate years. The eighth film in the franchise and the seventh to feature Myers opened in 2001 and jumped ahead to 2002. Due to this, Myers was both 44 and 45, respectively, during the events of Resurrection. Next is the 2018’s Halloween, again starring Jamie Lee Curtis, who was a hit with fans and critics alike (even though it deleted all the other sequel installments).

Taking place 40 years after the original, Myers was 61 years old, and still creating chaos like a 21-year-old. In next year’s direct sequel Halloween Kills, the action picks up on the same night in 2018. Similar to Halloween II (1981), Myers will be the same age as the previous film: 61.

Halloween tells the story of Michael Myers, who on Halloween night 1963, murdered his sister when he was just six years old.

As a result, Michael was sent to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium, where he stayed for years and never spoke a single word. Fifteen years later, on October 30, 1978, Michael escaped and returned to his hometown Haddonfield, Illinois, where he began to stalk Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her friends on Halloween night.

• Laurie became the only survivor of Michael’s killing spree and continued to be his main target, and when she died in the first timeline, Michael turned his attention to her daughter, Jamie Lloyd (Danielle Harris),

A fan of Halloween and Carpenter explained that the filmmaker once expanded on the two kinds of evil in an interview for the TV series Screamography,

• In it, Carpenter explained that one exists as a physical and external force that threatens the well-being of a group, and the other one is the evil that lives inside a person, similar to an infection.
• Michael would fit into the first category, so with that in mind, he doesn’t kill children because they are no threat to him, as he is a form of external evil and thus can’t be fought physically by a child – but a teenager can, hence why he killed his sister and many others.

Some fans have argued that Michael did kill a child once, in the 2018 reboot. During his escape in the first act of the movie, he came across a father and a son on their truck. Michael killed the father, and the son took a rifle to defend himself but ran back to the truck to try to escape, only to be caught and killed by Michael.

Now, some argue that Michael killed him as the kid represented an obstacle (mostly because of the weapon), while others considered that he was actually more of a teenager already, and so he fit into Michael’s targets. Still, it’s not Michael Myers’ style to murder children, showing that there’s still an ethical side to him and perhaps even a sensitive side as well, which can say a lot about his troubled psyche, and it’s to be seen if this will continue in Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends or if he will bend and break his own rules.

What This Means For Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends – Michael’s main goal is to spread fear, but right after that comes revenge. Laurie was the only survivor of his killing spree from 1978, and he couldn’t let that pass. Thirty years passed between Carpenter’s film and the reboot, and in-universe is enough time for people to stop fearing “the boogeyman”, more so as he was eventually captured and imprisoned.

Michael’s return this time is not just to remind the residents of Haddonfield that evil isn’t over but that they should fear him, and going after the only survivor (up to that point, of course) of his crimes is both a good way to spread fear again and get revenge for what Laurie and her survival did to him.

Halloween Kills will pick up right after Halloween, with Laurie, Allyson, and Karen (Judy Greer) teaming up with new and old allies to protect the town from Michael’s crimes. While he already succeeded in spreading fear again, his goal will come across some big obstacles as the residents of Haddonfield join forces to stop him, and he will definitely not be pleased about it.

Michael’s reason to kill being simply because he wants people to fear him makes him a scary and dangerous character again, as he could kill pretty much anyone, though he now has a special mission as there are three women who escaped, and this makes his journey (and Laurie’s) more interesting. What is a forensic scientist? Wherever a person goes, they leave behind evidence of being there. Even by wearing gloves to commit a burglary, or an elaborate disguise to commit murder – like Michael Myers did in Halloween and sequels – there is DNA evidence left behind. It is the role of the forensic scientist to comb a crime scene for clues.

In some cases, it may be obvious what a ‘scenes of crime officer’, or SOCO, is looking for. But they may also come across something that is relevant but unexplained at that time. SOCOs document everything, from keeping a long list of evidence seized to photographing the crime scene.

Michael Myers is a deep and complex character, psychopathic and a schizophrenic. He claims to hear voices in his head, instructing him to kill, with the first murder being committed when he was six years of age; his sister. The date was Halloween. Michael waited for his parents and the police to arrive after he committed the murder but, during the years of incarceration in a mental facility, Michael didn’t speak, thus did not admit nor deny the murder. So how could forensic science contribute to proving or disproving his guilt?

Judith Myers, Michael’s older sister, was stabbed with a butcher’s knife. Michael did not wear gloves; therefore, his prints would have been on the knife. However, this is not enough evidence to prove guilt, as it could be argued that Michael had attempted to help his sister, thus his prints and DNA would have been on the body and the knife.

Blood spatter

When someone is stabbed, there are patterns of blood spatter on the body, in the room or area, and on the perpetrator that indicate how the stabbing took place. When Michael stabbed his sister, he did so several times and the blood spatter would have been on him.

The murder site

In the film, Michael moves around the house as part of the process of killing his sister. He firstly moves upstairs to find the clown outfit. He then returns downstairs to the kitchen to locate the butcher’s knife before walking back upstairs where he commits the crime.

1. Finally, Michael walks back downstairs and out into the front yard to wait for his parents and the police.
2. A forensic scientist would collect this information from everywhere in the house to confirm the movement of Michael Myers in the property.
3. And the story goes on Michael broke free from the sanatorium where he was incarcerated and murdered several other people in order to try and murder his remaining siblings.

The rampage continued in sequel films, although at the end of the first Halloween film, Michael Myers is seen to be consumed by a raging fire.
