Blue Bloods (Official Site) Watch on CBS Blue Bloods is a drama about a multi-generational family of cops dedicated to New York City law enforcement. Frank Reagan is the New York Police Commissioner, and heads both the police force and the Reagan brood.
He runs his department as diplomatically as he runs his family, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically bold father, Henry, during his stint as Chief. A source of pride and concern for Frank is his eldest son, Danny, a seasoned detective, family man and Iraq War vet who on occasion uses dubious tactics to solve cases with his partner, Detective Maria Baez.
The Reagan women in the family include Erin, a New York Assistant D.A. who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father, as well as a single parent to her teenage daughter, Nicky. Jamie is the youngest Reagan, a Harvard Law graduate and the family’s “golden boy.” Unable to deny the family tradition, Jamie decided to give up a lucrative future in law and follow in the family footsteps as a cop.

Does Netflix play Blue Bloods?
Published Nov.6, 2019, 10:39 a.m. ET Photo: CBS Welcome to the PBBONE: the post- Blue Bloods on Netflix era. Yesterday, CBS police procedural Blue Bloods was officially removed from Netflix, leaving many fans desperate for another look at Tom Selleck’s mustache. The streaming giant first announced that Seasons 1 to 8 would be leaving a few weeks ago, when they released their What’s Leaving Netflix in November 2019 list, but that hasn’t stopped angry fans from lashing out at their no-longer-favorite service.
“Guess it’s time to re-evaluate if we even need to keep Netflix for our family,” wrote one particularly upset viewer. Since it first debuted in 2010, Blue Bloods has been charming viewers with its gritty police drama and lovable family banter. Now in its tenth season, the CBS series stars Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, and Donnie Wahlberg as members of a law enforcement family.
Selleck’s Frank Reagan, the patriarch, serves as the New York City Police Commissioner, while his children work as police officers (Wahlberg and Estes) and as an assistant district attorney (Moynahan’s Erin Reagan). Throughout its decade-long run, Blue Bloods has remained one of the most popular shows on cable, and it currently boasts an 89% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes,
While many viewers watch Blue Bloods on CBS proper, the police procedural has also found success on streaming. Netflix doesn’t release viewership information for licensed content, but a quick scroll through Twitter suggests that tons of people have watched Blue Bloods in the five years since it’s been on Netflix and almost all of them are mad that it was removed on Tuesday, November 5,
While Netflix did announce the departure in advance, many fans were still shocked to see that Selleck’s mustachioed police commissioner was gone for good. “Hey Netflix is there ANY reason why you would take Blue Blood off OVERNIGHT when I was just watching it last night?” tweeted one fan.
“They took Blue Bloods off Netflix. I’m cancelling my membership,” added another. Hey @Netflix is there ANY reason to why you would take Blue Blood off OVERNIGHT when I was just watching it last night? I would greatly appreciate it if you could put it back. I’m heartbroken #Netflix #BlueBloods — Maggie (@MaggieSpadafore) November 5, 2019 I can’t believe you dropped Blue Bloods! That’s one of the two programs our family watches.
Guess it’s time to re-evaluate if we even need to keep @Netflix for our family. — Teri (@Teri916) November 6, 2019 Well that stinks. I dropped Netflix for a number of reasons. I use Prime or major channel aps like #foxnow to stream shows — IrishGirl🍀 (@IrishJones613) November 6, 2019 They took blue bloods off Netflix.
- I’m cancelling my membership — S ✨ (@xosamaraa) November 6, 2019 I’ve been watching Blue Bloods every night for a few weeks now and just got to season three last night.
- And now it’s not on @netflix anymore and I have a MAJOR attitude!!!! — KKB (@theekbradshaw) November 6, 2019 I’m SO UPSET.
- Netflix took Blue Bloods off the service I just wanted to fall asleep to Danny sassing some New York criminal.
— Amy Lynn (@AmyMcD_11) November 6, 2019 Blue Bloods fans shouldn’t despair quite yet. While Blue Bloods is no longer on Netflix, it’s available to stream on a variety of other platforms, including Hulu (Seasons 1 to 9) and Amazon Prime Video (Seasons 1 to 6).
Is Donnie Wahlberg leaving Blue Bloods?
(Image credit: CBS/Paramount Plus) With the WGA writers’ strike seemingly coming to an end, the hope is now for the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike to be resolved pleasingly, and then the shows we all know and love will come back. Amongst those on hiatus for who-knows-how-long is Blue Bloods, which will kick off Season 14 when it returns, after CBS took a while to renew the long-running cop procedural earlier this year.
- The drama hit 250 episodes during Season 12 and is fast approaching 300, with Donnie Wahlberg having filled the sheos of Detective Danny Reagan since the beginning.
- But will it soon be time for him to retire the badge? Donnie Wahlberg previously opened up about what the future of Blue Bloods looked like, noting he’d rather live in the present than worry about where the series is a year or two from now.
That doesn’t mean he isn’t thinking about it. When it comes to longevity, the New Kids on the Block founding member admitted he looks at shows like Law & Order: SVU, which is going on 25 seasons. He tells ET that he only hopes Blue Bloods has that kind of success : SVU, I mean, Ice-T and Mariska Hargitay have been going for, gosh, so many years, and we hope to last as long as they have While it may be hard to match the success that SVU has, Blue Bloods seems to be right on track.
- It also sounds like Wahlberg has no plans to slow down any time soon, but he does occasionally think about hanging up the badge, which makes sense.
- He has been doing this for almost 14 seasons.
- Though, if Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T can continue playing their characters for over 20 years, that is a good roadmap to look at.
If Danny were to retire and leave, then Blue Bloods would have to end, because it’s hard to imagine the show without Wahlberg, right? Well maybe not have to end, but still. Blue Bloods has continued to remain a staple on CBS and has dominated Friday nights for so many years now, it’s hard to conceive of primetime without the Reagan family dinners,
But luckily, at least for now, fans won’t have to worry about that any time soon, at least once the show returns. There is no indication that Wahlberg or the rest of the cast are planning on leaving Blue Bloods, and CBS doesn’t seem ready to pull the plug yet either. It is very possible that the series could be going on for another several years, maybe even hitting Season 20 and joining a club that is still pretty exclusive.
It is going to be an agonizing wait for Season 14, but Blue Bloods fans are still keeping plenty fed. CBS is asking for the Blockhead family’s help as they will be airing classic episodes of the procedural on the 2023 TV schedule for the fall. Fans will be able to vote for their favorites on social media, choosing between fan-favorite moments, guest stars, and much more.
- With the classics re-airing, CBS is keen on keeping the Blue Bloods fans tuned in as the show remains on hiatus.
- It’s always hard to tell how much longer a show will be on, especially in this day and age where no show is safe, no matter how long it’s been on.
- The hope is always that it goes on for seasons and seasons, or, at the very least, gets a proper closure, even if it’s soon.
With a show like Blue Bloods that has been on for 13 years, you never know what could happen. Fans will just have to keep tuning in to the Reagan family to keep them on the air. Make sure to sign up for a Paramount+ subscription to watch all 13 seasons of Blue Bloods while the show’s on hiatus.

Is Blue Bloods new tonight 2023?
For the last 13 years, Blue Bloods has been a staple on CBS’s fall lineup with new seasons often debuting in late September or early October. The plan was for this to once again be the case this fall as CBS was set to release the show’s upcoming fourteenth season as part of its 2023-24 fall season.
When did Netflix remove Blue Bloods?
‘Blue Bloods’ Leaving Netflix in November 2019 Blue Bloods – Picture: CBS A major CBS series is scheduled to leave Netflix in November 2019. Blue Bloods which is one of the staple shows from the network currently is listed to be removed from the service in the United States on November 5th, 2019. Blue Bloods is a crime procedural that has been running since 2010.
It’s about a family of NYC cops and their various ups and downs in their positions. As of the time of publishing eight seasons of the show are currently on Netflix with in its usual time slot. As you can probably expect by now, with the removal of Blue Bloods that means season 9 or the upcoming tenth season will not be coming to Netflix.
All eight seasons of Blue Bloods are scheduled to leave Netflix US on November 5th, 2019. No other region of Netflix outside the United States carries Blue Bloods. It’s not the first major CBS departure either. Earlier this year, made its departure for exclusivity on CBS All Access.
Given the fact that the likes of Criminal Minds and NCIS have failed to get new seasons added to Netflix thus far in 2018 and 2019, we suspect they’ll be also leaving over the next year or so. The move shouldn’t necessarily be surprising as CBS consolidates most of its library on CBS All Access. From a business standpoint, they want as many subscribers as they can on its platform so it makes little sense to continue licensing out to Netflix in this instance.
As the so-called streaming wars heat up, you’ll find Netflix almost wholly reliant on its slate of Original content as will every other streaming service. CBS All Access for many is a hard ask given its lineup and price point. Will you miss Blue Bloods once it leaves Netflix in November? Let us know in the comments down below.
